POLE POSITION

DÆHLIE ski poles maximize your power transmission

WHETHER YOU PREFER THE CLASSIC DIAGONAL STRIDE OR THE SKATE DANCE MOVES. SKI POLES ARE ESSENTIAL FOR YOUR PERFORMANCE. FOR BALANCE OF COURSE, BUT ALSO FOR PROPULSION AND TRANSMISSION OF POWER.

DÆHLIE ski poles are developed in close collaboration with some of the best cross-country racers in the world. The Norwegian national athletes need to be able to trust their gear. And we have collaborated with them to give them poles with the best technology. Athletes such as Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen, Eirik Brandsdal, Therese Johaug have joined in on the development. Especially Brandsdal has spent a lot of time together with Product Manager Ståle Buraas refining the Norwegian ski poles.

Extensive testing, comparisons and listening closely to the athletes’ needs, have resulted in ski poles that satisfy the needs of top cross-country skiers.

The key elements of high performance poles are stiffness, breakage strength and for many racers; weight.

The increased focus on longer poles for double stride, has made the athletes’ more concerned about weight,

Ståle Buraas, Product Manager Dæhlie Skipoles

The main challenge is not to produce stiff and strong poles, but to avoid adding weight in the process. Our top of the line poles Symbol, weighing 58 grams per meter, are made out of 100 percent carbon. They have a special RIB construction for durability and stiffness. We have inserted three vertical carbon threads in the first 90 cm of core above the basket. This gives 25 percent more breakage strength, compared to competing brands. But also slightly higher weight.

But then again, trusting that your poles can carry you all the way across the finishing line, should be more important than a few grams. We are so confident in this pair of poles that we offer a breakage warranty.

Ståle Buraas, Product Manager Dæhlie Skipoles.

For the weight sensitive, we have produced a «faster» alternative, the Legend poles. They have no RIB reinforcement, thus making them lighter by 2-3 grams per meter, but in return they have lower breakage strength.

It`s still a pole on pair with the competitors in top racing.

DÆHLIE poles continue to evolve, taking advantage of the feedback from athletes and consumers. After one season in the market, and in top competitions, we experience that our poles have a good position. Our poles really help you maximize the transmission of your power. ‘’The fact that Therese Johaug won 11 WC victories on DÆHLIE poles last year, is a testament to that,’ says Buraas.

TECHNICAL INFO

STIFFNESS

Stiffness is a variable Expression depending of the measure method. Experienced stiffness are influenced about the knowledge about the Ski pole you actually use. Personal technique makes the experience different from racer to racer with the same product.

We are measuring stiffness in our poles based on the distance you receive when you are giving pressure to the most influenced area of the pole under use.
